Brel - my favourite bar

by Asif
(Glasgow Woodlands)

Brel is one of our favourite places to drop into.

It can be busy with students, especially round the time when exams are over! But its also popular with locals like us, who admire a well brewed beer.

Did you know that Brel imports its strong beers directly from Belgium? Some of them are a bit strong for me, but they all taste fantastic.

We like to sit in the tables that are really on Ashton Lane, when its sunny. That way, we get the buzz from Brel, and we can watch the fun times all round us, in the lane - probably the most hedonistic spot in the west end...

A glass of rather nice wine is also a good choice, of course. Cool and VERY laid back, Brel deserves its legions of fans. And we're right up there with them!

See ya at the bar!

Asif

A Chance Meeting...
by: Sean

I have a confession to make...

I met my wife in Brel.

She was with a bunch of female pals, hogging space at the bar. I was with mates, on a night painting the west end red. As you do, the blokes made an attempt to chat to the girls.

Lucky for me, Eve gave me her mobile number when we were on our way to the next pub. I plucked up the courage to call her, and our 1st date was (you guessed it!) in Brel.

We've been married nearly 2 years now, and couldn't be happier. Of course, Brel will always be close to our hearts!

Cheers.

Happy Memories of Brel
by: Alfie

How right you are about the beer garden at Brel, Asif.

Happy memories come flooding back, thinking about by undergrad years in Glasgow. I have to admit that a beer or two was consumed during ter and before exams as well!

I'm in Manchester now, but I wouldn't say 'No' to a couple of Brel beers and a pot of their amazing mussels!

Happy memories indeed.

Take care.

Alfie
