The Best - from Charles Rennie Mackintosh

by Andus MacPerson
(Strathaven)

We were so HAPPY when House for an Art Lover was finally completed in the mid-1990s.

It is the PERFECT tribute to local boy and world-wide hero Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

It doesn't matter when you visit, because his wonderful designs play with light in the most extraordinary ways.

The main drawing room gives me a pain in my chest - its so perfect, I feel like I want to cry :-)

And the bedrooms are so DREAMY!

Remember to take your camera when you visit. You're in for a treat.

Oh! And if you're thinking about having something to eat in the lovely restaurant, bear in mind that it only ever opens for lunch. Phone in advance for a booking, so you're not disappointed...

... (this is the voice of sorry experience talking!)

Have fun. This is a true Glaswegian treasure.

Angus

Work of a true genius
by: Norman

House for an Art Lover is a little out of the way, but isn't hard to find.

Well worth the trip, too!

I think it acts as a teaching resource for Glasgow School of Art, and that's cool. Mr Mackintosh would approve, I'm sure.

I love the way light plays around the whole building, making me relax and enjoy the experience. I know its a cliche, but the man was a true genius.

You'll understand when you visit.

Enjoy the treat.

Romance in House for an Art Lover
by: Ted

Earlier this year we'd been for a walk in the park where House for an Art Lover is.

A wedding reception was just getting underway, and they were using the House for the evening.

How romantic!

There were guests out on the balcony, in their finest and with glasses of fizz. It was all topped off by a violin quartet and a gorgeous sunny evening.

We thought about trying to gatecrash, but the jeans and boots might have given us away...;-)
