On a busy street, its really easy to miss. But worth finding. The door is quite non-descript, but heading down those steps reaps its rewards. I was 1st taken to La Lanterna for a business lunch. I'd never even heard of it! Turns out, its one of those 'only the locals know about it' kinda places... I love Italy and Italian food, and I wasn't let down. In fact, I'm a regular diner now, and the food is always just right. Service is prompt and relaxed, and they clearly take pride in the great meals they serve up. If you want to discover a local secret, La Lanterna is definately one to check out. It never breaks the budget, and the food is delicious. I think the way it looks like a courtyard, but you're really in a basement, works very well. We think La Lanterna is popular with business folk. When we go its normally mid week and at lunchtime, and there are lots of suits on show. Quiet and classy, La Lanterna is a local restaurant we couldn;t do without. So there! Its almost hidden by a bus stop. Really. But heading downstairs to a friendly welcome and authentically Italian meal is always a pleasure.
