Take a tour of The Burrell Collection

by Ronny
(Berwick-on-Tweed)

Hello, fellow art fans!

Thought I'd drop a line here to tell you about a secret in the Burrell Collection.

If you check in advance, and turn up at the right time, you can take a tour. It's completely FREE, and is done by a local fan of the collection.

It really brings the whole collection to life. We had a FABULOUS time with our guide. He knew SO MUCH, and was happy to answer questions.

The Burrell Collection is so vast and diverse, the tour helped to give us some perspective on what we were seeing.

Give it a try. It was an unexpected bonus for us, and made a super day completely unforgettable.

Have fun!

Ronny

Fun at the Burrell Collection
by: Aileen

I enjoy the Burrell Collection for several reasons:

Here they are, in no particular order!

1. Its FREE

2. I can take the kids for an hour or so, and they actually learn something

3. Afterwards, the kids can run about in the park. So I get worn out children who've learnt something new. Perfect!

4. Oh! And I rather enjoy looking at the inpressionist paintings, when I get the chance.

Burrell Collection - Awesome
by: Nick Ferguson

Hello Ronny

I've been on one of those amateur tours of the Burrell Collection. He was such a sweet old man.

And so knowledgeable about the collection.

He brought the whole thing alive, and told us something about the working life of Mr Burrell. Who'd have known how much he did for the city and people of Glasgow?

I enjoyed the whole rooms that are re-created in the museum. Such style and elegance.

And my wife thought the ancient stained glass pieces were the best. The light pouring through them was just awesome.

We're home in New York State now, and often look at our photos. That was a fun trip.

Best wishes,

Nick Ferguson
