Taking me back to Spain... and my youth!

by John/Juan
(Hyndland, Glasgow)

It's 'Cards on the Table' time for me. I'm John - but I love Spain so much that you can call me Juan (if you like!)

Seriously, I love the Spanish way of life... the weather... the wine.... the signoritas... and of course their super-fab food. So guess what? I'm a MASSIVE fan of Cafe Andaluz in Cresswell Lane.

I studied Spanish at uni, and spent a blissful year in Madrid in 3rd year. Why did I ever come back?! So I have some blissful experience of life on the Iberian peninsula.

Walking into the cosy golden warmth of Cafe Andaluz, I feel at home. The tiles on the walls, the authentic lighting, smells of garlic, seared king prawns and more garlic mix with hints of red wine - sending me from home to heaven in 3 seconds flat!

A bunch of us meet up regularly, booking one of those cool booths and staying all afternoon, ordering more and more tapas when we feel the urge. Nothing is rushed, and the chattering and laughing is PERFECT for the spirit.

We try not to spend too long in our undergrad years, and celebrate knowing Spain so well - and knowing Cafe Andaluz even better.

What a restaurant. I just might be Andaluz's biggest fan (and I don't mean my belt size, either!)

In fun, John

The best tapas
by: Carol

Tapas dining has popped up all over the place in the last few years. I think Cafe Andaluz is the best. By a long way.

The decor is so authentic. And those aromas... wow!

I've noticed that a large number of the waitstaff are Spanish, which adds a lot to the real feel of Cafe Andaluz.

Being in super-cool Cresswell Lane doesn't hurt, either.

Adios

A Great Night Out at Andaluz
by: Maria

We had a wonderful 'surprise 40th dinner' for a shy mate, not that long ago, in Cafe Andaluz.

He loves travelling, and went off around Spain by himself for 6 weeks, a couple of years ago. Exciting stuff, and brave to go by himself, I thought.

Anyway, he loved it. And he was suitably impressed by Cafe Andaluz.

The tapas choices include all the favourites, with LOADS of garlic, and some more unusual ones too.

Those large glasses of wine are nearly big enough to swim in, too.

Three cheers for Cafe Andaluz West End.

Maria
