Art Lovers Cafe
Top Secret File
Codename "toshynoshy"
Nice red carnation! You've clearly done this before?
Psst!... our VERY-close-second favourite place...
to see something else designed by the gifted Charles Rennie Mackintosh before or after art nouveau lunch in a cool white heaven here is...
and we love it because school can still be fun, when it looks like this! Marvel at the windows round the stairwells, and the striking blue of the wall tiles. And enjoy the photos from an age now long gone. The school shows Charles Rennie Mackintosh at his practical, designing-for-life best.
[Get yourself over to Ibrox underground and take the Outer Circle along to Shields Road. Scotland Street School is directly across the road - you can't miss it. Don't be late... got to get there before the bell rings...]
... so do you want to know what's keeping those 'in-the-know' folks talking about Art Lovers Cafe?
It's... the lovely outdoor terrace, popular in summer time. After a stroll round House for an Art Lover, or the park, what could be nicer than sitting out here, having something to eat and chatting with good company?
Enjoy!

Sssh!... our VERY top place...
to see something else designed by the gifted Charles Rennie Mackintosh before or after art nouveau lunch in a cool white heaven here is...
and we love it because even locals are often unaware of this beauty, and it really is worth the time to track down. Squat and almost dumpy from the outside, the woodwork and effects with stained glass are jaw dropping from the inside.
[Head to Ibrox underground and take the Inner Circle to St George's Cross. Then walk up Maryhill Road for 5 minutes or so, and you'll see the church on the right at the first big junction with traffic lights.]
