Cafe Mao
Top Secret File
Codename "chinagirl"
Ooh! Nice spy glass...
Psst!... our VERY-close-second favourite place...
for a drink before or after scoffing the Mao-chow here is...
and we love it because just like Cafe Mao, where you can sit outside in good weather, Collage Corner Bar feels a bit like that - only you're sort of hidden from view on a busy junction. Perfect for people watching.
[Walk down to Argyle Street and turn right. After a few blocks you'll go under the Heilan'Man's Umbrella, and Collage Corner Bar is over on the left, on (you guessed it!) the corner.]
... so do you want to know what's keeping those 'in-the-know' folks talking about Cafe Mao? It's... that it's really good for people watching. The cool mixture of huge windows and pavement tables make Cafe Mao's position a fab one during festivals. So grab a table outside during the Jazz Festival in June and the Merchant City Fesival in Sep and watch the throngs of happy festival goers head by. Other festivals also create a buzz in the Merchant City, like Glasgay! in Oct/Nov, keeping Cafe Mao a hot spot all year round.
Enjoy!
