Chinaski's
Top Secret File
Codename "hideandseek"
Wow! Canary yellow top!... Brave choice for a budding Top Secret spy!
Psst!... our VERY-close-second favourite place...
for a really good drink before or after your uber-cool meal here is...
and we love it because it really knows how to make you welcome. The food is hearty and honest, and the lively staff keep everyone who knows this super wee place feeling right at home.
[From Chinaskis, cross the M8 using the bridge to the left when you leave Chinaskis, and walk along Sauchiehall Street until you reach Waterstones book store on the right near the start of the pedestrian area. Turn right, then left down Sauchiehall Lane. Universal is there, on the right.]
... so do you want to know what's keeping those 'in-the-know' folks talking about Chinaski's?
It's... the rumour that the owner himself really does want to keep his fab bar/restaurant/beer garden a secret. And locals in the know are more than happy to oblige.
Hence the lack of external signs. But once you've found it and you're inside, Chinaskis is a delight. Be cool, and have fun.
Enjoy!
Now... don't tell anyone else. And DO NOT reveal this Chinaski's top secret file and password.
We'll know.... And we'll track you down and sneak little sticky "motor mouth!" labels onto your back!

Sssh!... our VERY top place...

and we love it because it's just the other side of the M8, is just as hidden as Chinaski's, and is a true Glasgow gem. In a concrete jungle that only the 1960s could produce, Baby Grand Charing Cross is a golden glowing oasis of good taste and good times.
[Cross the M8 (carefully - use the bridge to the right as you leave Chinaskis), and walk up Bath Street, over on the right. The first small set of stairs leads you into the concrete jungle, and Baby Grand is just round the first corner, on the right. Really - once you've made it this far, you can't miss it! Have fun.]
