Mother India's Cafe
Top Secret File
Codename "minispice"

Ooh! Nice spy glass...
Psst!... our VERY-close-second favourite place...
for a spot of West End retail therapy before or after scoffing some yummy curry here is...
and we love it because this boutique is like nothing else in the city.
Full of charm and with great customer service, shoppers are encouraged to try the oils and infusions before they buy.
And then you choose the classic or funky jars you want filled up. Great fun.
[Easy to reach from Mother India's Cafe, Demijohn is on Byres Road. Walk past Kelvingrove Museun and Art Gallery, turning right into Church Street then right again onto Byres Road.
Up towards the botanic gardens and on the same side of the street you'll find Demijohn just after VInicombe Street.]
... so do you want to know what's keeping those 'in-the-know' folks talking about Mother India's Cafe?
It's... the totally cool photos on the walls. Not what you'd expect in any more ordinary curry house, they show scenes from around Glasgow in unusual style.
There are classic buildings from odd angles, and others that have been colour treated to make the shots even more interesting than before.
For some reason they really suit Mother India's Cafe.
Enjoy!

Sssh!... our VERY top place...
for a spot of West End retail therapy before or after scoffing some yummy curry here is...
and we love it because with an ease that is so laid back, and with the merest whiff of magic that we think the owner might be a white witch, all sorts of floral creations emerge from here to delight us.
Really, though, Eleanor has a real gift for putting the blooms together, and has been running Quid Est for nearly two decades now.
A genius in her field, we (nearly) worship her!
[Walk past Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery, and keep going along Dumbarton Road.
Soon after Kelvinhall underground station, turn right up Hyndland Street to find Quid Est on the left after a couple of blocks. Its the little place on the corner, painted a tasteful dark green.]
