and we love it because all that dark brickwork and huge hanging baskets keep it hidden from view. And the owner often has a cheery word or two for every guest.
He somehow manages to make this bar and cafe feel more like his own home, he's so laid back and welcoming.
[Walk up Renfield Street to Sauchiehall Street, and turn left. When you reach Hope Street turn left, cross the street and go up the lane. You'll see The Universal up there, on the left. Honest! It'll be worth it... ]
